The Adult Graduation Program leads to the , recognized as high school graduation by the British Columbia Ministry of Education. Eligible BC residents 18 years of age and older can participate in this program. Adult students take the same courses as students in British Columbia public high schools, and earn a graduation that is recognized by employers and post-secondary institutions.

The Adult Dogwood Diploma requirements:

1. English Studies 12
2. Math 11 or 12 (Accounting 11 is acceptable)
3. 3 Grade 12 courses (or Social Studies 11 + 2 Grade 12 courses)
   (For a total of 5 courses)

• For some students, additional courses may be required (example: a student who has not completed English 11 likely will not be successful in English Studies 12, so they would need to complete English 11 first)
• Students planning to attend post-secondary may have to complete additional courses to meet entrance requirements
• Some students may be able to participate in a Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) to earn credits for the 3 required Grade 12 courses. PLA recognizes learning a student may have done outside the traditional high school system (example: a student with a valid Red Seal trades certification as a carpenter may be able to earn credits for Construction 12 and Work Experience 12)

SAIL’s flexible, work at your own pace, courses provide Adult Graduation candidates the flexibility they need to maintain their employment while still attending classes. Students should expect this process to take from a few months to several years, depending on the number of courses they require and how much schoolwork they are able to manage. Typically, we recommend an Adult Learner begin with one or two courses, complete those, and then add additional courses one or two at a time until they have completed their requirements.

Non-graduated Adults FAQs:

1. Are SAIL courses fully online?
   • All SAIL courses are online; students work at their own pace and can complete their courses according to their own schedule (maximum of 12 months to complete each course). However, some courses require you to come in-person for invigilated exams, like Midterms and Finals. 
   • Students taking online courses at SAIL use their own learning devices with an Internet connection.
     
     
2. Can I take courses tuition-free?
   • Non-graduated adults can take SAIL courses tuition-free. There are NO tuition costs to Canadian Citizens or Landed Immigrants residing in British Columbia. All students must be actively living in British Columbia.

3. When is the next registration period or deadline to apply?
   • Registration is year-round, so you can register whenever you are ready to engage with your course(s).
