Al-Khayma
Al-Khayma, meaning "The Tent" in Arabic, is a leadership and personal development program for newcomers to Canada. Through team-building activities, communication skill development, and community engagement, participants gain essential life skills. The program also includes Community Action Projects, allowing students to apply their learning in meaningful ways.
BLAST (Bringing Learning to After-School Time)
Supported by The BC Alliance for Healthy Living and Urban Systems
BLAST provides a safe and engaging after-school environment for students in grades 1-7, divided into Junior (grades 1-4) and Senior (grades 5-7) groups. The program focuses on physical literacy, healthy living, and social-emotional development through interactive activities, positive peer relationships, leadership-building exercises, out-trips, and visits from community leaders.
Book Buddies
Supported by Simon Fraser University and READ ÎçҹѰ»¨/White Rock Society
Book Buddies supports students in grades 2-4 in developing their reading skills with one-on-one tutoring from trained SFU students. The program emphasizes making reading enjoyable while strengthening phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, sight word recognition, comprehension, and fluency. Additionally, a family literacy component empowers parents to support their child's reading journey at home.

Canada Scores provides a dynamic after-school program for students in grades 4-5, combining soccer, poetry, and community service learning. Participants develop physical literacy, social-emotional skills, and teamwork in a safe and supportive environment.
Canucks for Kids Hockey
Supported by The Canucks for Kids Fund
This program offers children a fun and active introduction to hockey, with opportunities to develop skills and participate in tournaments. Students connect with peers from other schools while engaging in structured, skill-focused learning experiences.
CASTLE (Character, Awareness, Strength, Tenacity, Leadership, Empowerment)
CASTLE is a mentorship program for male-identifying students in grades 8-9. Participants work with mentors, meet motivational guest speakers, and engage in community projects. The program fosters leadership, resilience, and school engagement through meaningful activities.
Clubhouse 36
Supported by Save-On-Foods
An after-school program for children ages 6-12, Clubhouse 36 promotes recreational activities, physical literacy, and social-emotional learning. Participants develop leadership and teamwork skills through daily and weekly activities, community engagement, and mentorship opportunities.
Creative U
Supported by The BC After-School Sport and Arts Initiative (ASSAI)
Creative U is a guided exploratory arts program during the after-school hours. This program aims to engage students in social emotional learning opportunities that are a safe space to create, self-express, and share their feelings, thoughts, and emotions through art/exploration. Students have the opportunity to participate in open-ended creative experiences which can spark imagination, creative play, and experimentation. Curiosity is modeled by the leaders to encourage students to develop a more open and growing mindset. This safe and non-judgmental atmosphere supports building the students’ self-esteem, confidence, and abilities to uniquely express themselves beyond the program’s parameters.
Empower Media

Empower Media equips students in grades 6-7 with digital literacy skills, fostering responsible and engaged digital citizenship. The program emphasizes media education, critical thinking, and online safety.
G.I.A. (Gxrls In Action)

This after-school program for female-identifying students in grades 5-9 offers educational and experiential learning in science, leadership, athletics, and environmental stewardship. Led by expert instructors, G.I.A. nurtures students’ strengths and passions while fostering positive community impact.
HEROS (Hockey Education Reaching Out Society)
HEROS provides a free, structured hockey program for students in grades 4-12, equipping participants with full gear and mentorship in a safe and supportive environment. The program emphasizes physical literacy, leadership, and community engagement.
Jumpstart Academy
Supported by The Jumpstart Foundation
Jumpstart Academy offers after-school physical literacy programming for students in grades 1-7. Using Fundamental Movement Skills (FMS) and partnerships with organizations like Game Ready Fitness and Sportball, the program builds confidence and motivation for lifelong physical activity.
Next Up
Supported by Sport For Life
Next Up is a basketball-based leadership and mentorship program for students in grades 8-10. Participants develop communication, teamwork, and athletic skills with support from coaches and guest speakers, fostering a safe and empowering environment.
PLAY (Promoting Life Skills in Aboriginal Youth)
PLAY engages Indigenous students in grades 1-7 in play-based activities that promote life skills, health, and well-being in a culturally affirming environment.
Science Alive

This after-school STEM program for students in grades 5-7 offers hands-on, interactive learning experiences in partnership with SFU’s Faculty of Applied Sciences.
Racing Readers
Supported by Simon Fraser University
A collaborative initiative with the ÎçҹѰ»¨ School District, Racing Readers supports students in grades 2-5 by combining literacy, numeracy, and physical activity. High school and university volunteers provide mentorship, fostering academic growth and confidence
REACH (Recreation, Employment Readiness, After-School, Community, Health)
REACH prepares high school students (grades 10-12) for careers in recreation and hospitality. Participants gain leadership skills, work experience in after-school programs, and certifications such as First Aid, SuperHost, High Five, and Food Safe.
Scores in Action

Designed for students in grades 6-7, Scores in Action promotes physical activity, leadership, and community service. Participants mentor younger Canada Scores students while leading a community impact project.
Start2Finish Reading & Running Club
Supported by Start2Finish Canada
This evidence-based program integrates literacy, physical activity, and social-emotional learning to support the holistic development of children. Grounded in Positive Education principles, it enhances executive functioning and resilience while fostering a love for reading and movement.
TEAM (Togetherness, Empowerment, Action, Mentorship)
TEAM is a mentorship program for female-identifying students in grades 8-9. Participants engage in leadership development, social justice discussions, and community action projects that create positive school-wide impact.
Tomorrow’s Voices

Tomorrow’s Voices is a barrier-free, audition-free choir for children ages 8-18 who love to sing. The program fosters musical growth, teamwork, and personal development in a joyful and inclusive environment, led by professional music directors.
